Man, life really booted me right into January. I can’t really tell at this point if last month flew by or seemed endless. I guess a bit of both at times. It’s been a weird but exciting ride, that’s for sure. Here’s an original idea: let’s write up a little round up of last months highlights. Groundbreaking, amirite.

the new job

I gave notice at my former job a week before Christmas. I already started working for 3 days a week at my new job on January 2nd, while still working 3 days a week at my old job. I went to the Vitra showroom in Brussels and attended the IMM design fair in Cologne. For all of January, I’ve only spent 3 days at home.

Quite different from my working 4 days a week life in 2017. Lol.

But I’m not complaining. So far, this job has been everything I expected from it and I’ve already learned a ton. O right, about the new job – I work as an interior architect for a design and lifestyle shop. Yes, it’s exciting. I’m excited.

Girard’s cat

When I saw this little cutie on sale, I could hear Aziz Ansari’s voice in the back of my head: treat yo’self. So I did. And I probably will again in the near future because my little kittie will need a buddy. Or buddies.
The design is by Alexander Girard. Back in 1953, he designed a large family of wooden dolls to decorate his Santa Fe home. You can buy these little figurines at Vitra.

Dear John

When I found myself in the Oxford Street shop in London last October, I finally got me the Dear John eau de parfum. I’d been carrying around the solid perfume in my bag for a couple of months and the scent really grew on me. The great thing about Lush perfumes is that they have these little solid perfume tins you can get for pretty cheap before you commit yourself to the large bottle. I say large, but it’s still only 30ml. I’ve been using this for 3 months straight now and the bottle is still pretty full. Since it’s quite a heavy scent, I don’t need much.
Dear John is a very spicy perfume with notes of cedarwood, vetivert, coriander and clovebud oil. I guess that makes it a bit of a unisex, perhaps even a manly, scent. It reminds me of log cabins, plaid shirts and rainy days – perfect for these cold months. I love it.
